Fans Rally Ocean Springs Greyhounds

Principal Robert Hirsch shouted: "The 2004 Greyhound football team, hit the floor boys! Hit the floor".

Greyhound football mania hit a feverish pitch Thursday morning.

Dr. Scherrine Davenport said "I am in the spirit and I'm one of the Assistant Principals and I love my Greyhounds!"

Ocean Springs High School rallied the hounds, who are hungry for a 5-A state championship title.

Coach Steve Jones said "This game tomorrow night is not about the coaches. It's about these 60 guys that two years ago said that enough was enough. If they had a goal in front of them, to make it to the state championship game and that's going to come true for these guys tomorrow night".

Hirsch said "We've been working, 3 1/2 to 4 years on one word - the "J" word - Juggernaut. It is an immovable force".

The force heads up to Jackson Friday, and fans showed the Greyhounds that they're the top dogs.

Greyhound Football Player Travis Williams said "I'm just glad to see the fans that we got, the teachers we got, showing great support. I just love it".

The fans were ready to scream, dance and cheer their team to its first ever state victory.

The crowd cheered "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y. Victory! Victory! That's our cry".

The Ocean Springs Football Booster Club is sponsoring five buses to take fans to Jackson Friday for the game against South Panola. Those bus tickets are sold-out. However, tickets for the game are still available. The Greyhounds will hit the road Friday at 8 A.M.
