D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

While most people enjoyed the Labor Day holiday relaxing, emergency workers were on duty. Eight hundred Olive Garden restaurant chains around the country delivered lunch to first responders.

A crew from Olive Garden restaurant in D'Iberville arrived at Fire Station One on Lamey Bridge Road in D'Iberville. They came carrying food and saying thanks.

"We do for our community because of everything they do for us to keep us safe. They're here and available to us when we need help," said Kim Brady.

The D'Iberville firemen appreciate and welcome the gratitude.

"It means a lot coming from the community. It's great that they think of us. We do this because we love it. When they come out and provide for us it means a lot," Firefighter Doune Lander said

Normally the firefighters would be working together making lunch in the firehouse or barbecuing out back. This delivery was a treat and first responders like this never take a grateful community for granted.

"We appreciate it very much, them showing their support for everything. What they're doing for us today is unbelievable," said Captain Darrin Peterson.

Afterwards, the workers from Olive Garden went to the D'Iberville Police Department to deliver a tasty thank you.
