PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

The man involved in Thursday's fatal accident on Wolf River Road that killed one woman is now in custody. Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said Joshua Emmanuel Ladner, 27, was arrested at his home on Fire Tower Road in Pass Christian on Friday. He is charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident causing death and felony fleeing.

Deputies spent Thursday night searching for Joshua in a stretch of woods near Highway 53 after he allegedly fled the scene of the accident that killed his wife, 34-year-old Melissa Jane Ladner.

Authorities said Joshua was towing Melissa's truck behind his truck using a chain when a sharp curve caused her truck to flip. Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer said Melissa was thrown from the vehicle and killed instantly. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say Joshua was standing over the body of his wife when law enforcement officials showed up, but then jumped in his truck and ran when he saw the deputies.

Brisolara said Joshua led deputies on a high speed chase down County Farm Road before he turned west onto Highway 53, drove into a field off Menonite Road and left his truck to run in the woods. Brisolara said Joshua was able to elude authorities through the night.

Authorities said deputies went to Joshua's home in Pass Christian around 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Brisolara said Joshua once again ran from authorities, but was apprehended with the help of a K9 unit after a foot pursuit.

Brisolara said Joshua was treated for minor injuries before being transported to the Harrison County Jail. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.
