The Alabama Crimson Tide starts the 2014 football season Saturday with a match-up against West Virginia in Atlanta.
Although travel to the Georgia Dome will not be a new experience for many Alabama fans, a travel professional says there are still some things to consider.
UA Alumni Association Events and Travel Coordinator Ashley Clayton reminds fans of this year's earlier kickoff time, compared to the season opener Alabama played last year in Atlanta.
She says that could be a factor for fans wanting to go to the Georgia Dome early, with the big science fiction and comics convention Dragoncon also happening.
"Kickoff time is a little bit earlier this year than it has been in the past. It's at 3:30 p.m. Eastern, and the Dragoncon parade starts at 10 a.m. that morning," Clayton said.
"They close down a whole lot of streets from at least 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., maybe a little later. So, for fans who are planning on coming in early to set up their tailgate, they would probably just want to be mindful of that," Clayton said.
Clayton says she's also been in touch with fans in West Virginia who have expressed excitement about seeing their team play in the Georgia Dome.
She encourages the Alabama fan base to remember this will be a new experience for many of the West Virginia fans.
"They've called to ask me what they should expect from us, and I told them nothing less than classic Southern hospitality. So, I hope our fans will deliver on that," Clayton said.
Clayton also reminds fans to plan for the regular busy Atlanta traffic, also with a big football game, Dragoncon and holiday weekend all happening at once.
