Hurricane Katrina hit South Mississippi, August 29th 2005. Obviously, it's now the time of year we all really watch the tropics like a hawk.
Just last week, some scientific models forecasted a storm tracking into the gulf. Now we have a sense of relief that Hurricane Cristobal is headed away from land toward the North Atlantic. How fortunate for us all, but there are more possibilities for storm development in the Atlantic basin before the 2014 season ends.
We have no guarantees that we will not feel the effects of a storm this year. On this 9th anniversary of Katrina, we should all realize that a good plan for communication, emergency supplies and possible evacuation should be in place for all who live here along the coast.
We suggest that you make sure you have a plan in place for your family in case we are threatened this season.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com.
