BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The 8th annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour will take place on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. There will be a repeat tour on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m.
The tour is a continuous, ongoing tour, which means you may arrive at any time during the three hour event.
This tour is a multi-award winning event, and it showcases the lives and times of individuals buried in the cemetery. This year's theme is Biloxi Families Legends & Lore. It will highlight Biloxi families and those stories and legends that have been passed down through generations.
The Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour is free to the public. Donations for ongoing projects in the Biloxi Cemetery are always welcomed.
The tour is produced by Preserve Biloxi, which includes members of the City of Biloxi, Biloxi Bay Chamber, Biloxi Main Street, Biloxi School District, Biloxi Genealogy and Local History Library and the University of Southern Mississippi.
This year, Preserve Biloxi is working to place QR codes on the grave markers of individuals who have been portrayed in the last eight cemetery tours. The codes will create a self-guided tour within the historic cemetery. Each code costs approximately $100. If you are interested in making a donation to the project, please call 228-435-6370.
