Cooking competition turns realtors into chefs

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Foodies gathered for a competition similar to the reality show "Chopped" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College's Jefferson Davis Campus Thursday night. Real Estate agents, mortgage lenders and closing attorneys became chefs for the  cooking competition.

"We had four teams and there was an appetizer round and then there was an elimination and  the three remaining teams did an entree and then there was an elimination and then we did the dessert," said Real Estate Agent Regina Warren.

"It's just all fun and honestly its really exciting when you see competition and all the intensity that goes with that and it was fun just to see good friends and have fun," said competitor James Overstreet.

In the end, the winners were Lynn Healy and Nicole Nezat with Fidelis Real Estate.

The competition was part of a fundraiser put on by the Gulf Coast Association of Realtors.  Organizers say they raised about $2,000. That money will go to help Casa, The Nourishing Place and Make A Wish of South Mississippi.

Gulf Coast Association of Realtors plans to hold another fundraiser in October.
