BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Soon, college baseball fans will be able to watch a game right here in Biloxi. Work continues on the building of a new minor league baseball stadium on Highway 90. City officials say the steel needed to construct the stadium has been ordered and is on the way.

It won't be just minor league baseball fans will be able to watch. One of the team owners announced the University of Southern Mississippi has committed to playing a few games each year in Biloxi, starting in 2016. Tim Bennett says he hopes to make Biloxi a destination for those wanting to see college baseball at its best.

"I think a lot of the baseball stadiums have seen what's been done with the SEC over in Birmingham. We want to do something similar to that with the conference USA," said Bennett.

Bennett also said he is in talks with Ole Miss and Mississippi State to play some baseball games in Biloxi.
