The parable of the good samaritan told by Jesus in the Book of Luke came to life again last week; not in a story told two thousand years ago, rather in the lives of people right here in South Mississippi.
Just like the man who needed help in the Bible story, a woman and a child in a car accident needed help and there was no time to wait for police or firefighters to arrive. The car Carolyn Taylor was driving burst into flames in the accident on I-10 by Highway 49 in Gulfport.
Trucker David Fredericksen grabbed his fire extinguisher, calmed the flames; then he and others pulled Taylor and the toddler from the burning car to safety. We salute David Fredericksen and the other brave people who had the courage to run to the burning car and save lives.
