Two of the four men accused of running an illegal pill ring in South Mississippi will not go on trial, but the other two will.
Dr. Sanjay Sinha was arrested in March after a three year long Drug Enforcement Administration investigation. Federal agents say Sinha wrote hundreds of pain med prescriptions for profit. DEA Investigators say he does not have a medical license in Mississippi. They say casino employees, John Mattina, Robert Thornton II and Joshua Locke met the doctor at a coast casino and helped him get customers.
Mattina has pleaded guilty to one drug related count. Two other federal drug charges were dropped in the plea deal. He faces up to ten years in prison.
Court records show Robert Thornton plans to change his plea to guilty on one of the two federal counts against him. He also faces up to ten years in prison.
The other men, Dr. Sinha and Locke, are set for trial September 8th.
