Coach Singleton looking for one D'Iberville quarterback to take command

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

D'Iberville head coach Buddy Singleton has been around high school football for most of his adult life. He loves the game and he loves teaching young men the game of football.

Singleton is a proven winner and he's counting on some young men to step up in the trenches at offensive line.

Jacob Bosarge and Zack Loper return, bringing size and experience to the offensive line, that must fill some holes.

Singleton said,"We've got a lot of young people there and hopefully we can hang in until they get some experience. I think that's going to be our biggest need."

D'Iberville has two players vying for the starting job at quarterback and Singleton is looking for one of them to win the job. There's Andrew Bird, a 6-1, 175 pound junior and Peyton Stenum, a 6-2, 170 pound senior.

"We had a scrimmage last week and was hoping that one of them would separate from the other,"stated Singleton. "Actually didn't see much difference between the two, but we've got three days of practice and after Wednesday we'll decide on one."

D'Iberville unveils a new offensive attack in 2014.

Wide receiver Rob Moore said,"It's changed this year, we've opened up to the spread. We have a lot more receivers then we've had in the past and with the two quarterbacks we have in Andrew and Peyton, it should be a fun season."@

Aaron Anspach is back for his senior campaign.  He's the Warriors starting tight end.

"With the coaching staff we have they always push us to our best potential so I feel like we can accomplish anything,"stated Anspach.

Defensively Greg Hill who leads the charge.  At 5-9, 170 pounds, Hill packs a solid punch having piled up 110 tackles last season.

Junior defensive back Jaquelle Green has great size at 6-1, 192 pounds along with Kalem Reddix. Both will also play wide receiver this season.  Singleton believes this is the most speed he's ever had at the wide receiver slot.

Defensive ends Jacques Turner and Barry Leonardi are back ready to close in on running backs and quarterbacks.

D'Iberville kicks off the 2014 season at home Friday night at 7 at Warriors Stadium hosting the Gautier Gators.
