JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The countdown to the Miss America crown is in full swing for Miss Mississippi, Jasmine Murray.

The official Miss America Send Off was held Sunday afternoon in Vicksburg. There are high hopes this could be the year Miss Mississippi will bring home the national title.

It is no longer called the trunk show where some of the outfits Miss Mississippi takes to the Miss America competition are unveiled.

Miss America leaders want to keep more of what the national audience will see under wraps.

Jasmine Murray said, "the first time they see a lot of our wardrobe will be on the stage and that's really, really exciting."

Miss Mississippi has a quick turn around to prepare for the national competition. She was crowned July 12th, and since then has spent more time in the gym staying in shape for swimwear, working on her wardrobe, preparing for the judge's interview, and making appearances throughout the state.

Murray told us, "I have been working very hard with the Miss Mississippi Board and we've just been fine tuning everything from talent to interview to shopping."

At the Send Off Murray performed the song, "Something's Gotta Hold On Me" that helped her win the Miss Mississippi title.

Murray added, "well I'm taking that to Miss America and I'm very, very excited. I love the song, it's very entertaining, and I think it's fun."

One of the highlights of the Send Off, part of her costume for the annual Miss America "Show Me Your Shoes" Parade.  The shoes are covered with musical notes from top to bottom.

Murray explained, "we have so many outfits. I think I have to have at least 26 to 30 outfits."

The parade is set for Saturday, September 13th,  and Miss America 2015 will be crowned Sunday, September 14th.

You can also support Miss Mississippi by choosing her as the contestant you would like to see become America's Choice during the national pageant.
