One victim of deadly Jackson Co. crash identified

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Officials in Jackson County have identified one of the victims of Saturday night's fiery crash that killed two and critically injured another. Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus identified one of the deceased as 49-year-old Paula Yommer, of Wilmer, AL.

Broadus said Yommer was the driver of the 1998 Mazda Protégé that was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Highway 63 when it hit a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado head on. Broadus said Yommer and the unidentified passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck happened two miles south of the intersection of Highway 63 and Highway 613.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Benjamin Seibert, the driver of the pickup truck was 63-year-old James Barrow. Authorities said the pickup flipped onto the driver's side and caught fire. That's when bystanders pushed the truck back upright and pulled Barrow from the wreckage.

Seibert said Barrow was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile. His condition is unknown at this time.

Broadus said she expects to release the identity of the other victim on Monday. We will let you know when we receive that information on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
