The Federal Aviation Administration will be in Stone County Friday investigating a plane crash that sent three people to the hospital.
As you first learned in a WLOX breaking news e-mail, the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday near Wiggins. According to Lt. Lewis Husband with the Stone County Sheriff's Department, the pilot reportedly tried to land in a field off Mississippi 29 near Oil Well Road, but the plane clipped a tree and landed just short of the road.
The three men aboard the plane were taken to Forrest General with non-life threatening injuries. Right now, no word yet on identities of the victims. Officials tell us the plane left Texas and was headed to Mobile.
