WLOX Editorial: Watch out for school kids, drive safe in school zones

About this time every year, more people are late for work. And what is our excuse? Those big bulky slow moving yellow school buses that stop traffic every few blocks and those school zones where we have to drive much slower than we want to.

Last year, about this time, there were several accidents involving school buses. Even though I am sure everybody knows all the rules, traffic should stop in both directions except on divided highways for buses loading or unloading. And look out for those school zones. The speed limit is not designed to make you late for work. It's there to protect the kids.

So this time of year, we suggest you leave a little earlier for work. And if those buses don't get in your way, well it won't hurt to be early on the job.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
