A home that helps battle cancer

It is official, the building of the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home is underway. Thursday morning builder Brandon Elliott and other Dream Home donors broke ground on the home in the new Malpas West subdivision off Brasher Road in Biloxi.

"We are just really excited to start the Mississippi Gulf Coast campaign again. We are happy to be in a new area of South Mississippi," said Brooke Vogel, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Event Marketing Representative.

The 3,500 square foot Dream Home is valued at $470,000 and will have four bedrooms, three and a half baths, a butler's pantry, wet bar and a two car garage. Tickets for this year's home will go on sale in early 2015. The tickets will cost $100 each.

"We are hoping to raise more than $650 thousand with this Dream Home to help the children of St. Jude battle cancer," said Vogel.   The hospital costs $2-million a day to operate. Vogel added, "We couldn't do it without yall's help."

The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is one of the largest fundraising events for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
