LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - WLOX News has learned of a shakeup in the leadership at Long Beach High School. Principal Peter Dabbs has been placed on administrative leave with pay, according to Dabbs' attorney Wayne Woodall.
Woodall says the ex-husband of a teacher at the school accused Dabbs of inappropriately texting her, and when Dabbs was asked to turn over his personal cell phone for review, he refused.
Woodall said Dabbs claims he and the teacher are friends and the texts contained nothing inappropriate.
Woodall said Long Beach School District Superintendent Carolyn Hamilton placed Dabbs on leave on July 22. Dabbs cannot return to the school until a hearing on the issue. A date for that hearing has not been set.
