GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A paper serving process turned into a drug bust in George County last Friday. Officials tell us a sheriff's deputy went to a residence located on the 100 block of Weave Road on Aug. 8, to serve papers to the homeowners.

While knocking on the door, the deputy heard a noise coming from behind the home. When the deputy went back to investigate, he found the homeowner's son, 32-year-old James Lesley Weaver, using a metal grinder to create what authorities say appeared to be a homemade bong. A pipe was also found in plain view.

When the deputy tried to arrest Weaver, officials say he attempted to discard a clear plastic bag containing a crystal like substance. The deputy was able to obtain a search warrant for the shed, where he also found a glass pipe and two firearms.

While searching the property, deputies found 29-year-old Violet Schelron Harper hiding inside the house. Officials said Harper was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Weaver was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance along with an outstanding warrant.

Both Weaver and Harper were transported to the George County Regional Jail.
