Through a partnership with the Miami Job Corps Center, unite4:good initiates a new rewards program-recognizing participants for spreading kindness through volunteerism, service, and social media.

MIAMI, Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- unite4:good (www.unite4good.org), the global movement for humanity, announces the kick-off of a points-based rewards program aimed at empowering local youth to spread kindness through volunteerism and service. Through a partnership with the Miami Job Corps Center, unite4:good will provide participants with an opportunity to earn points redeemable for items that range from $10-$25 gift cards to brand-new PC Computers.

Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert was present in support of the partnership as u4g organizers introduced the program to the nearly 250 students at Miami Job Corps program.  "We live in a world of both great surplus and extraordinary need," says Mayor Oliver Gilbert. "If we can all just do whatever we can to help others, if we can be selfless in intent and action, we can build a place that works better for us all."  Over the next four months (August 2014November 2014), Miami Job Corps students will be eligible to acquire points for their good deeds in the community. Volunteerism will be tracked and assigned value through a points system designed by unite4:good.

As students earn points they will have the option to redeem them as they go for gift cards at retailers such as Jamba Juice or Starbucks. Participants can also opt to accumulate points for higher-value prizes, including a gift certificate for professional attire that can be worn in an interview setting, or even a PC Computer valued at $500.

Rewardable actions for this program are divided into two main categories:  The first category is In-person Actions, which are the more traditional methods that include: Job Corps service projects, volunteering, marathons, donations and more.  The second category consists of 'virtual', Social Media Actions which are earned by connecting and sharing stories of kindness through existing social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. u4g has also introduced the calendar4:good which is a special tool used to highlight eligible point earning activities offered by organizations such as the American Red Cross.  Organizers at u4g also encourage students to take extra initiative and identify opportunities and passion projects within their own communities to activate. The Miami Job Corps Center has also pledged to create additional opportunities for the students.

unite4:good founder Anthony Melikhov says, "The core mission of the unite4:good movement is to empower individuals who are committed to acts of kindness and service.  We were so pleased to join Miami Job Corps especially since volunteerism is already a key tenet in their programming.  Building a community of kind and giving individuals is key to our journey."

Mary Geoghegan, center director for the Miami Job Corps Center, expressed the center's excitement about participating in the pilot program. "Community Service is part of the fiber of Miami Job Corps Center and a vital part of our leadership activities. We are thrilled with the opportunity to work with unite4:good in this meaningful initiative."

This is the first pilot program in the partnership between unite4:good and a Job Corps Center.  While volunteerism is a hallmark of the Job Corps program, it is not mandatory. This partnership represents a special opportunity and offers incentives for students to engage and join in the unite4:good mission to spread the message of kindness and goodwill.
