Pass Christian residents mourn death of Williams

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - Robin Williams' death has created shock waves around the world including Pass Christian, where it has been reported that his mother, Laura McLaurin Smith Williams, once lived.

The report quoted Williams saying that his mother was from Pass Christian. However, the report has yet to be confirmed by Harrison County court or historical records.

And while residents of Pass Christian didn't know her, their reaction to William's death was as if he was one of their own.

"I loved everything he ever did - everything," says Maxi Blondheim, a Pass Christian resident and an employee at Pass Christian Soap Shop. "I loved him and I'm so sorry he's gone. I'm sorry he had the demons he had to live with."

Likewise, Mini Parker of Parker's, Inc. Jewelry & Gifts in downtown Pass Christian, was a fan. "I've watched him from 'Mork & Mindy' days and one of my favorites was Mrs. Doubtfire," she says. "I thought he was absolutely hilarious in that. I just always think of him as being hysterical. It's such a sad loss for everybody."
