HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The star of "Magic Mike" gave all sorts of South Mississippians an OMG moment Tuesday.  Pictures of Channing Tatum posing with members of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department appeared on Facebook pages.

As soon as a WLOX reporter heard about the Tatum sighting, she clicked on Facebook.  And in an instant, several other staffers surrounded the computer screen.  Everybody wanted to see the movie star, and find out why he was in Hancock County.

We contacted Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam. He told us Channing is doing a project in New Orleans.

Apparently, Tatum came over to Hancock County because he has a couple of projects in the works, and might use the county, and its sheriff's department in his productions. The Tuesday visit was to stop by and introduce himself to the team.

We prodded the sheriff for more information. But, Adam wouldn't share any details about the projects Tatum was considering.

The sheriff said Tatum hung out at the sheriff's department for about an hour.
