MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - School administrators and teachers from eight schools systems across Jackson and George Counties went on a shopping spree for school supplies today.
This free school supply shopping event took place at Singing River Federal Credit Union in Moss Point. It was part of the United Way's Stuff the Bus campaign.
During the month of July, the United Way collected about 1,000 pounds of pencils, paper, scissors and much more from businesses and neighbors who wanted help students make the grade.
United Way leaders said the project was vital because so many teachers spend hundreds of dollars of their own money each year buying supplies for kids in the classroom. They're hopeful the free supplies will help make a difference in the lives of those who are building our future community leaders.
