You can't vote if you don't register

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Next month, people who live in Pascagoula's ward one will elect a councilman to fill Larry Taylor's term on the city council. Candidates have until August 27 to get the 50 signatures they need to qualify for the special election.

Voters have until this Saturday to make sure they're registered.  That's why Pascagoula City Hall will be open the rest of this week from 8:00am-7:00pm, and from 8:00am-noon on Saturday.

Only ward one residents - people who live in the central part of Pascagoula - can vote in the September 16 special election. Voting will take place at Central Fire Station on Jackson Avenue.

If a run-off is necessary, it will take place on September 30. For more information, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 228.938.6615.

Taylor resigned to become a head basketball coach in north Mississippi.
