GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Wendol Lee is an activist from Memphis, TN, who came back to South Mississippi on Saturday evening to rally once again for justice in the murder case of 5-year-old Janaya Thompson.
"We won't stop coming down until we get justice," Lee said.
Those impacted by Janaya's brutal death came together in front of the trailer where the 5-year-old's body was found by authorities for one more stand.
Gretta Hinton is Janaya's aunt. She is grateful for the continuous support from those in and outside of her community. She hopes that her family can find peace when the person responsible for this heinous crime is properly punished.
"We'd appreciate if justice was served for Janaya Thompson, because she was only five and didn't live her life," Hinton said.
Until they get that justice, Lee says you can expect to see his group in Gulfport again.
"We're going to be here, and we want justice. We won't leave until we see it," Lee said.
Alberto Garcia has been charged for the brutal death of Janaya. Julian Gray is behind bars charged with an unrelated crime, but according to Gulfport police, he is considered a person of interest.
