TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas veterinarian was driving down Highway 155 Tuesday morning when a car ahead of him slowed down and dropped a box out the side of the car.

When he pulled up, he could hear kittens whining inside. Seven kittens, he said, no more than ten days old, were inside that box. He scooped up the box and took them to his clinic just a mile down the road.

He said dumping animals in the road around his office happens quite often, as many people hope that’s close enough to the vet, but he said it’s a dangerous decision.

“You know it’s just pitiful, I mean these guys, they’re probably the most innocent there is, that and baby seals. And it’s just pitiful to do this. I mean all they want is a little bit of love and a little bit of care and they grow up to be fantastic pets,” Dr. Gary Spence, the veterinarian who rescued them, said.

The kittens are all black and white short-haired. They are all ready to go home with a new family for free. If you’d like to adopt one of the kittens, click here.
