2014 Sunfish North American Championship has a new leader after 5 races

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

Former World Champion Jonathan Martinetti of Ecuador has taken the top spot following five races.  He placed 1st, 3rd and 2nd in the three races on Friday. He now has a total of 19 points.

Greg Gust of Texas from the Rush Creek Yacht Club jumped from fourth place into second with 20 points following a 5th, 6th and 1st place finish on Friday.

Stewart Draheim another member of the Rush Creek Yacht Club is third with 33 points.

First day leader, Andres Ducasse of Chile dropped into fourth place with 40 points.  He won the first two races on Wednesday and followed that up with a 10th, 4th and 24th finish on the second day of racing.

Bill Draheim, the father of Stewart, sits in fifth place with 50 points.

Daniela Rodriguez of Ecuador, the 2014 Sunfish Youth North American Champion has 51 points for sixth place.

Bay-Waveland Yacht Club member, Eugene Schmitt had a good Friday.  He finished 13th, 2nd and 6th to leap into eighth place overall with 64 points.

Here's how other Bay-Waveland Yacht Club members stack up in the standings after five races...Todd Edwards is 18th with 99 points and his wife Anne Edwards is 33rd with 152 points.

Ana Gayle Christian of the Gulfport Yacht Club occupies 35th place with 166 points and John F. Dane of the Pass Christian Yacht Club also has 166 points and finds himself in 36th place.

The final races to decide the 2014 Sunfish North American Champion hit the high seas on Saturday.

    Following the resignation of Hugh Freeze, former Ole Miss player from Gulfport Matt Luke will lead the Rebels as Interim Head Coach. Jason Krohn grew up with Luke and played football with him at Gulfport High. Also an Ole Miss alum, Krohn believes Luke is the right person to guide the Rebels through difficult times.
