Christmas in July gives back to the community

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

It's the middle of summer, but Christmas has arrived in July!

Kinetic Credit Union in Columbus is celebrating the holiday a little early by giving back to community outreach groups.

Dozens of donations were collected from members and employees. People brought in coats, non-perishable items, and school supplies.

Community relations vice president Wanda Rutledge says it's all about helping others.

"It's important that we are in the community, that we give back to the community," Rutledge said. "Our motto is people helping people and we want to be true to that motto, so that's what encouraged us to do this."

The donations will be going to the Valley Rescue Mission, Damascus Way, Magnolia Manor, the Homeless Resource Network, and the Boys and Girls Club.
