Local athlete excelled at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Heather Caylor left Los Angeles with the Silver Medal. She won her first two matches before losing by one point in the championship finals. Heather is determined to win-in-all in 2015.

"I want to go back to Worlds as a Blue Belt ,"stated Caylor. "And hopefully I'll get my gold and I want to place Gold next belt level until I get my Black belt in the next six years."

Caylor attributes her success to the training of instructor Bernardo Pitel.

"Bernardo is great,"said Caylor. "He's authentic Brazilian. It's true Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He's made an effort. He goes to the matches with us."

Caylor started training with Pitel two years ago and says she loves getting in the gym at least 5 days a week.

She said,"I really enjoy the fact you build a lot of confidence. I don't fear walking around by myself because I know a lot of self defense from the class."

Bernardo Pitel believes Caylor has want it takes to win-it-all.

He said,"She's a great athlete and I know she will get more titles. She will be a World Champion."

Caylor trains at least 5 days a week for about 2 hours each day.
