BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police say a man committed suicide Wednesday morning in the Taco Bell parking lot on Sherwood Forest.

Reports say police tried to pull over a pickup truck around 10:50 a.m. on I-12 West near Millerville for following too closely. The driver refused to pull over, according to police, and eventually exited onto Sherwood Forest.

The man, now identified as 28-year-old Jeremy Damarol Anderson of Gulfport, MS, pulled into the Taco Bell parking lot. "Units behind the truck heard one single gunshot come from within the vehicle," said Cpl. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department. "It was then learned that the driver of the truck had committed suicide."

Coppola says the driver, at no time, proceeded at a high rate of speed. "He just refused to stop for officers," he said.

Officers learned the truck was reported stolen out of Jefferson Parish. Police say there are no motives at this time for the suicide and anyone with any information is urged to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 225-389-4869.

No one else was inside the truck at the time. Taco Bell was closed briefly as the scene was processed.
