BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A second suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a Birmingham man who was trying to protect his neighbor.

Arthur Mills, 53, came to the aid of Juliette Lockett on Sunday, June 15 when three suspects robbed her. Mills exhanged fire with the suspects and was fatally injured.

In mid-July, Lockett's family said that she had passed away from a heart attack. They believe that the stress of the robbery and Mills' death were too much for her to bear.

Aronde Samuels, 20, of Birmingham has been charged with capital murder and is being held on no bond.

Birmingham police say they were able to locate Samuels thanks to a witness.

Davarius McGee, 22, of Birmingham was arrested just days after the alleged crime and was charged with capital murder, robbery and attempted murder. He is also being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Officers are still searching for the third suspect. If you have any information in this case, please call the Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764 or leave an anonymous tip with CrimeStoppers by calling 205-254-7777.
