Ebola victim has ties to the Shoals

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

An American doctor who contracted the Ebola virus while working overseas has ties to the Shoals area.

Dr. Kent Brantly is undergoing treatment in Liberia.

Brantly is the grandson of the late Ralph Snell, who helped start Mars Hill Bible School.

Brantly was working in Liberia as a medical missionary when he contracted the deadly virus. 

Health officials told CNN the current Ebola outbreak, centered in West Africa, is the deadliest ever.
