Chris Christie is coming to Biloxi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Chris Christie is coming to Biloxi.

The New Jersey governor was considered by many to be a front runner for the GOP's presidential nomination in 2016.  And then, a bridge fiasco in his home state seemed to derail his presidential dreams.

Whether he'll run for president remains to be seen.  What GOP backers realize is Christie is a good campaigner.  And Biloxi republicans will see that for themselves in August.

Gov. Christie will be in Biloxi August 13 to campaign for Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant.  His trip through Mississippi and Alabama is part of another jam-packed month of travel boosting Republican candidates. Christie is planning visits to more than half a dozen states in August.

He has been traveling the country in his role as chair of the Republican Governors Association. On August 12, Christie will return to Maine to campaign for incumbent Gov. Paul LePage. The next day he'll head to Birmingham, Alabama to boost Gov. Robert Bentley, then to Biloxi, Mississippi for Gov. Phil Bryant.

He will be in Kansas and Oklahoma next week for events with the governors there. He then goes to Arkansas on Aug. 27 for events in Fayetteville and Little Rock for the RGA and Republican gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson.

When WLOX News receives more information about the Chris Christie visit, it will be posted on WLOX.com
