MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - The man killed in Monday's explosion at Omega Protein died from a head trauma injury, according to Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus.
Jerry Lee Taylor II was killed when he and three other men were repairing one of the metal towers that stored fish oil. Two men were working on the tank that exploded; Two were on the ground.
One man is still hospitalized; two others were treated for minor injuries and released Monday afternoon. The hospitalized worker is Josh Walls. At 3:00 Tuesday, hospital officials listed Walls in fair condition.
OSHA investigators arrived at Omega Protein Monday night, and started an investigation Tuesday to determine what caused the explosion, and see whether it could have been prevented. Moss Point Fire Chief Tommy Posey told WLOX News OSHA has started interviewing people who were around the area when the explosion happened.
Posey says this will be a lengthy investigation. He says there is a lot of damage near the explosion area. The plant is expected to remain closed this week while the investigation is underway.
