New WAFF 48 Morning Meteorologist

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

You’ll soon be seeing a new friendly face on WAFF 48 News Today starting Aug. 4. Meteorologist David Ernst will be joining Jim Abath and Tiani Jones. David comes to us from Macon Georgia, where he was the morning Meteorologist at WMAZ 13.

“With Jeff Castle leaving WAFF in June for his new role as Chief Meteorologist at our Raycom sister station in Shreveport, we wanted to make sure we brought in an individual who would be a good fit with our morning team, as well as a seasoned meteorologist,” said News Director Adam Henning.

“I’m excited to have David join the WAFF 48 Storm Team,” said Chief Meteorologist Brad Travis. “David has covered big weather stories and storms in the south and he is no stranger to the types of severe weather we get here in the Tennessee Valley.”

“My wife and I are excited about making Huntsville our new home,” said David. “I look forward to serving the people of the Tennessee Valley. I know the strong reputation WAFF 48 has with their viewers when it comes to weather coverage, and I can’t wait to be a part of their mornings.”

Raycom Media owns WAFF 48. Raycom Media, an employee-owned company, is one of the nation’s largest broadcasters and currently owns and/or operates 46 television stations in 18 states. Raycom stations cover more than 12.6 % of U.S. television households and employ 3,500 individuals in full and part-time positions.

In addition to television stations, Raycom owns Raycom Sports (a marketing, production and events management and distribution company in Charlotte, North Carolina); Raycom Post (a post production facility in Burbank, CA) and Broadview Media (a post production/telecommunications company, based in Montgomery, AL).

You can follow David on social media at his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
