HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara tells WLOX News he is ready to retire. Brisolara will not run for reelection in 2015.
Sheriff Brisolara has worked in law enforcement since 1977. And this actually won't be the first time he's retired from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office. He did so in 2003 when he retired as a Major and the office's Chief Administrative Officer.
Brisolara was then appointed to serve as Chairman of the Harrison County 911 Commission. He successfully ran for sheriff in 2007, and has served as the county's top law enforcement officer ever since.
We'll be talking with Sheriff Brisolara later this morning about his decision to walk away from the sheriff's department. You'll see excerpts from that interview on our newscasts later today. We'll also post the full interview on WLOX.com.
