GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - About a dozen people made a lot of noise Tuesday night in Gulfport, calling for justice for Janaya Thompson. They held up colorful homemade signs and chanted at the corner of Three Rivers Road and Angela Drive. That's close to the area where the five-year-old's body was found last Thursday.
The group is urging police to find the killer or killers to bring justice to Janaya's family, and ease fears in the community. They're very passionate about wanting someone to be charged with her murder and they will not be silenced until that time comes.
"We don't know. The killer could still be out here; Our community isn't safe. We have children running around playing. I'm a mother of six children, so I can imagine how the mother is feeling. It's horrible," organizer Aniagreia Scott said.
The group plans to continue the picket several days a week until an arrest is made in the case.
