Ole Miss baseball's Bianco has contract extended through 2018

JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - Ole Miss baseball is about a month removed from that fantastic run to Omaha and that success has helped earn head coach Mike Bianco a contract extension, according to WLBT's Mike Sands.

Bianco actually signed a different contract extension last summer that would keep him in Oxford through 2015. Since state law prohibits contracts being longer than four years, Bianco's contract is now through the 2018 season.

"I've been fortunate to be the same school for 14 years and be here another 4 more years," Bianco said. "We're excited. My family's always loved Oxford. Hopefully we'll be here for a long time."

"It was a no-brainer for our program to get him solidified," Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork said. "He took us to Omaha, we made that point and now we want to win that national championship with him as our head coach. Locking him in was very important for us."

Bianco has coached Ole Miss baseball for 14 seasons, including 12 postseason berths. In 2014, he led the Rebels to the College World Series for the first time since 1972.
