In five seasons in Starkville, Dan Mullen has guided the Bulldogs to 3 bowl victories and four Egg Bowl wins over arch rival Ole Miss.
Having an experienced and multi-talented quarterback in Dak Prescott, Mississippi State players are confident they are ready to make a run atop the Southeastern Conference.
Mullen said,"I don't think the expectations get too big for the players because how we finished last season. Our guys can look back at last year and say, heck we almost beat Auburn. We had an opportunity to win. Our guys really feel like we should have won that game. That's the team that played for the National Championship.
He added,"We battled Alabama right down to the final and we were doing it with a true freshman quarterback."
Mississippi State stumbled early before the players started picking up the pace and picked up victories, closing out the season with 7 wins and 6 defeats. It's now on to the next level.
"Having that foundation now is the time for us to starting taking those next steps."stated Mullen. "People aren't saying do you think you have a chance at a bowl game this year? With that foundation, we expect to go to a bowl game. Now we want to take that next step and compete for an SEC Championship."
The fun begins August 30th at 6:30 p.m. in Starkville, hosting Southern Miss.
