RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Rankin County Circuit Clerk Becky Boyd confirms she has been sued by Chris McDaniel for redacting birth dates from voting records.

According to Rankin Board of Supervisors attorney Craig Slay, the lawsuit was filed on July 10.

Boyd's office says they were following instructions given by the Secretary of State's Office to remove all personal information of voters.

McDaniel's camp maintains that state law gives them access to original records, including voter birth dates.

All of this comes after McDaniel took to the Mississippi Supreme Court on Monday for an emergency order forcing Harrison County Circuit Clerk Gayle Parker to let him see original copies of poll books.
