Hinds GOP chairman argues illegal vote totals with McDaniel

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County GOP chairman Pete Perry held a press conference Tuesday with completed numbers from ballot examinations.

According to Perry, the review was completed Monday.

Poll books, affidavit and absentees were all subject to review and both campaigns were present for those examinations.

Perry says 300 to 350 possible illegally cast votes were found in Hinds County in the Senate runoff, which is significantly lower than McDaniel's original assertion.

During the press conference, Perry showed examples of how numbers dwindled down through review.

Perry says it's not his job as chairman to determine if those potential crossover votes are actually crossovers.

Perry was an observer during the latest reviews.

He says the numbers quoted are what representatives from the campaigns discussed while in the courthouse.

The poll books will be turned over to McDaniels campaign for 12 days.
