JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Registration for Jackson Public Schools begins today and this year, the process is paperless.

Parents have to visit the school in their attendance zone to get a registration "snap code" for the year.

Then they can use that code to finish registering their child online.

Superintendent Dr. Cedrick Gray says this should make the registration process a lot easier on the parents.

"Parents deserve an easier route to registration, a lot less ,if you will, an ease to the process. We're trying to move to a paperless system where you don't have to sit and fill out 15 pieces of paper."

Each JPS school will have Internet-accessible computers for parents to use for registration as well as available staff to help assist with completing the process.
