GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (CBS5) -

The National Park Service has identified a hiker who died in Grand Canyon National Park on Friday as a 47-year-old Ohio man.

The NPS said Andrew Sammler, of Lancaster, OH, was hiking with three people up the North Kaibab Trail early Friday afternoon when he collapsed about a half-mile from the trailhead.

His fellow hikers and NPS personnel unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him.

The NPS and Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the death, an NPS spokeswoman said.
