MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - Pike County is joining a private company to provide housing to oilfield workers in McComb.
The Enterprise-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1q1EGdo) Supervisor Chuck Lambert told a civic club this week the county will buy 110 acres east of Interstate 55.
He says 40 acres will be sold to CMS Consultants, a company from Metairie, Louisiana, that offers logistical services to the oil and gas industry.
Lambert says the company is planning to build Shale Lodge, a complex with dozens of eight-bed modular housing units, a cafeteria, laundry, recreational facilities and other amenities.
Lambert says the oil boom will result in a large population increase, bringing more crime, traffic and other issues, and Pike County needs to have the infrastructure to handle it.
