SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

The Selma Police Department arrested a woman on Friday in reference to a domestic violence case.

Police took 40-year-old Gloria Marie McCants into custody after she allegedly assaulted her uncle during an argument.

The assault occurred in the 1200 block of Duke Street, when McCants allegedly severely cut her uncle's left arm with a broken glass bottle. The assault stemmed from an argument that was reportedly concerning the care of her children and alcohol.

Police say that both parties had been drinking at the time of the altercation.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he received medical treatment for his wounds.

McCants was charged with first degree domestic violence assault and was transported to the Dallas County Jail where her bond was set at $30,000.
