MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Have you ever wanted to go sky diving? Now is your chance to reach that goal, while also giving back to a wounded veteran.

Jesse Murphree was serving overseas in Afghanistan when he was ambushed in an IED attack on December 27, 2007. The attack resulted in severe injuries and doctors had to amputate both of his legs above the knee.

Even with such obstacles he's choosing not to let them hold him back. Jesse has decided to set a goal for himself and become a licensed skydiver.

"Everyone is kinda the same in the air. When you are in the air, everyone is falling and there really is no disability and it's really just going to make me feel normal again," said Jesse.

"In the Army we were airborne together, so it is something we have done previously," said Tyler Nelson.

Tyler served alongside Jesse in Operation Enduring Freedom. The two were in the 173rd Airborne Combat Team and now Tyler is helping his combat companion hit the skies again.

Tyler created the Jumping with Jesse Fundraiser. The money will go towards Jesse reaching his goal, providing funds for special equipment, training in Arizona, and travel.

"He is absolutely stoked," said Tyler talking about Jesse. "Every time I talk to him about it, he is just more and more motivated to get up there. The level of excitement that it has brought to him has been overwhelming."

Now, with your help and a little skydiving, his dream may finally become a reality.

There will certainly be skydiving at Jumping with Jesse. Anyone can do it. You will just watch a 15 minute movie, go through some training, and then strap up. There will also be games, raffles, and plenty of food.

The event is Saturday and Sunday at Skydive Tuskegee, just off exit 38 of Interstate 85. It gets kicked off at 9 a.m.
