PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Last minute preparations have delayed the departure of the amphibious assault ship "America" from Pascagoula. Built at Ingalls, the ship was supposed to leave Thursday morning for San Diego, where it will be commissioned this fall.

Wednesday afternoon, WLOX News learned the public send-off was pushed back to Friday morning. You're invited to bid farewell to the America as it leaves South Mississippi. An exact time should be announced Thursday.
