Does It Work: The Scratch-Dini

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Last week, WSFA 12 News tested the DuPont Scratch Remover with mixed results.

This week we tested a competitor, the Scratch-Dini.

The Scratch-Dini supposedly buffs away scratches in seconds, saving the user hundreds of dollars.

While last week's DuPont Scratch Remover was similar to a pen, the Scratch-Dini comes in a bottle with a much thicker solution. Unlike the pen, which is applied directly to the scratch, Scratch-Dini works by applying the solution to a cloth and buffing the imperfection away.

For continuity, we used the same car as last week's test. Following the directions, we went to work on a shallow scratch. After buffing, the scratch was still clearly visible. It didn't work.

We then tried a deeper scratch, thinking we wouldn't have any luck, only to find the Scratch-Dini did a wonderful job on that deep scratch.

You may remember last week's test of the DuPont Scratch Remover having a lot of luck on shallow scratches, but not much luck on deeper gashes.

Interestingly enough, the Scratch-Dini appears to have a completely opposite effect. It doesn't like shallow scratches, but has much more success on some of the deeper stuff.

So keep that in mind when you're deciding on which one of these to buy. Deeper scratches we go with the Scratch-Dini.

It doesn't fix every scratch, and like its predecessor, it earns a sometimes on this week's Does It Work.

The Scratch-Dini can be found locally for about $10.
