PRC Blue Devils will unveil new quarterback in 2014

CARRIERE, MS (WLOX) - One of those teams slated to compete in Lyman, the Pearl River Central Blue Devils.

Head coach Eric Collins is getting quarterback Terrick Whitehead a golden opportunity to get his timing down with his receivers and running backs in the 7-on-7 competitions.

The Blue Devils compete in the highly competitive Region 3-5A ranks

It's the first time Whitehead will be the number one quarterback at PRC.

Collins said,"Last year he played a little safety and has been our backup quarterback for a couple of years. He started out as our freshman quarterback but he was too good an athlete to play behind Dillon."

He added,"Dillon was a four year starter so now it's his turn to step up and I tell you he's really done a nice job and I think he's going to turn some heads and open some eyes."

In 2013 the Blue Devils moved into the Region 3-5A ranks and closed out the season with 4 victories and 7 losses.

"I like our football team. I think we're going to be OK,"stated Collins.

He added that his Blue Devils play in a really tough district and they are looking forward to that challenge.

Collins said,"We got a good taste of it last year and we'll get it again. I think our schedule is one of the toughest in the state. We're excited about that and the opportunity to play real good football teams."

Pearl River Central kicks off the 2014 season in the Shrimp Bowl in Biloxi on August 23.
