STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A family will never be the same after a mother was killed and a son was injured in a car accident in McHenry on Saturday night.
Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry tells WLOX News that Mylinda Beech was killed after the car she was riding in left the roadway while rounding a sharp curve and stuck a tree. Flurry said the car was driven by Mylinda's son, Brandon Beech.
According to Lt. Lewis Husband, with the Stone County Sheriff's Department, Mylinda was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, but Brandon was not restrained.
Husband said the Beech's car was traveling north bound on Old Highway 49 when Brandon lost control around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of South McHenry Avenue.
Flurry said Mylinda was pronounced dead at the scene, and Brandon was airlifted to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
