GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Gulfport man is showing the world he is one proud American. All you have to do is look at his house. David Totterer hired a friend to paint his house on 13th Avenue in red, white and blue.
It started with the driveway then spread to the front porch, carport and lawn decorations.
Totterer is a Vietnam veteran and served 21 years in the Navy. He says this is his way of honoring our military veterans and the men and women in uniform on the Fourth of July.
"When I finally had my own place and stuff, I said, 'I'm going to go ahead and paint it, show people how I feel and this is my country, I'm proud of it'," said Totterer. "I've got people to come out, take pictures of it. Everybody's like, 'Hey, I love it and all,' to me. It makes me feel good."
Totterer says by next Fourth of July, he expects to see his entire house covered in patriotic colors.
